Dan Eudy of Bullard, Texas captured this unusual photo of a honey bee taking water at a birdbath in February of 2009. Dan said that his son was the one who suggested the idea of combining photography with his beekeeping.

Rebecca Eldridge of Orleans, IN took this beautiful photo of a honey bee on a chicory blossom. She says, "I am 14 years old and a beginning beekeeper. I completed a 4-H project entitled Safe Handling of Bees this year that received a grand champion award at the county fair and a blue ribbon at the Indiana State Fair. My dad kept bees when he was younger and now the entire family enjoys it."

January 2010 Cover
2010 marks are sesquicentennial (150 years) for publishing the American Bee Journal. We plan to feature articles about our past editors, as well as the history of beekeeping during 2010. In honor of the event we have reprinted the entire Vol. 1, Issue 1, January 1861 as a pull-out souvenir in this issue. Enjoy!
